Horizontal Mixer
Our horizontal mixer is built both for food plants producing flour, spice, nut and powder blends and for livestock operations that need a feed mixer. Paddle or ribbon elements mounted on a horizontal shaft move the batch axially and radially at the same time, so a uniform blend is reached within a short mixing cycle. On the food side the machine handles flour, spices, dried fruit and powder recipes; on the feed side grain, bran and concentrate components are blended in the same body architecture. Trough volume, agitator type and discharge arrangement are engineered around your recipe and shift plan. Bodies are produced in stainless steel or painted carbon steel, with stainless contact surfaces wherever food recipes require it. Installation and commissioning are carried out by the Kasas Teknoloji team.

The machine consists of a horizontally bearing-mounted shaft carrying either paddles or ribbon spirals. As the shaft turns, these elements push the material bed in both directions along the trough. A paddle arrangement creates cross flow and a tumbling action, while a double ribbon carries material toward one end on the outer spiral and back on the inner spiral. This counter flow lets components of different particle size and bulk density fold into each other without segregating. Major ingredients enter through the main inlet, while micro components such as additives and premix are dosed through a separate port. Mixing time is set by the recipe; once it elapses, the bottom discharge gate opens and the agitator sweeps the trough clean so no carry-over reaches the next batch. The trough floor follows the rotation radius of the elements, which removes dead zones. Powder mixer duties can include an aspiration connection at the inlet, while feed lines are integrated with intake screw conveyors and a weighing arrangement.

How does a horizontal feed mixer work?
A shaft inside the horizontal trough carries paddles or ribbon spirals. As it turns, these elements move grain, bran and concentrate back and forth along the trough, creating a counter flow that folds components into each other without segregation. When the cycle ends, the bottom gate opens and the agitator sweeps the trough empty, so nothing carries over.
How long is a mixing cycle?
There is no single fixed figure. Cycle time depends on the number of ingredients, differences in particle size, the share of micro components and moisture content. During commissioning we take samples at different intervals, check homogeneity and set the working time specific to your recipe. That value can then be stored as a fixed cycle in the control panel.
Should I choose a paddle mixer or a ribbon blender?
Paddle designs suit feed rations with wide differences in particle size and bulk density, where a tumbling action helps. A ribbon blender is preferred for flour, spice and fine powder mixer duties, and where low-inclusion additives must be distributed precisely. We make the choice together once the recipe list and component properties are shared.
Can the same machine be used for both feed and food?
The architecture is common to both, but running one body alternately on two product groups is not recommended. For food production the contact surfaces are stainless, with weld transitions and gate sealing arranged for cleaning. Feed lines may also use a painted carbon steel body. The intended duty is defined at project stage.
How is the trough volume determined?
Volume is engineered from batch size, the number of batches targeted per shift and the bulk density of the mixture. Fill ratio and discharge time are also taken into account. Because pricing follows these parameters and the material selection, we prepare a quotation once your recipe and capacity requirements are shared.
